About Me:

In 2006 I earned a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts - Boston. My main profession is teaching English to speakers of other languages; I've done that in the USA, Ecuador and Austria.

My students have included natives of Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, China (PRC and Taiwan), Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Libya, Macedonia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Niger, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela, and (at an after-school program in Cambridge, Massachusetts) the USA.

My wife and I live in Vienna, Austria, where I work as a teacher, translator and proofreader. During the 1990s I worked in Ecuador for four years, dividing my time between Quito and the rainforest.

My blog here contains poetry and journal entries. I've also posted photos taken in Austria, England, Italy, Slovakia and the USA.

Some of my writing and translations appear online, including:

An article on discoveries of blue jade in Guatemala: http://www.mesoweb.com/reports/BlueJade.html

A translation of a short story by the Ecuadorian writer Abdon Ubidia:

A translation of five articles about a 2003 massacre of Native Americans in the Ecuadorian rainforest: http://maleperduys.blogspot.com/

A translation of a shaman's tales about his training: http://qarrtsiluni.com/2006/09/15/gripped-by-sunlight-the-education-of-a-secoya-shaman/
